Do cats get colds or the flu?
by
KittyKondo.com
Cats are prone to get colds and
the flu just like humans and most of the time they can get them if
they've been in close contact with multiple cats in a household or
shelter. Contrary to popular myth cats cannot get colds from humans and
vice versa. The flu virus is species-specific so you can be sure your
cat has a cold due to contact with other cats.
If your cat refuses to eat or drink
this can be a sign of a feline cold because healthy cats usually need to
smell their food before eating and the flu prevents this. A
cat cold or flu lasts about 7-10 days, same as humans. If the cold last
longer than one or two days it might be time to consult with a vet
because this lack of eating or drinking may cause other complications in
your cat.
