Cats and kittens alike spend
most of the daily hours sleeping or taking many mini size cat naps.
On average cats will sleep about 17 hours each day which equates to
about 2/3rds of theirs feline lives. If you have a growing kitten on
your hands this number is likely to increase but varies from kitten to
kitten.
Some things might influence
your cat to sleep more or less often including their age (younger cats
sleep more), how they feel about their general safety (dogs and other
animals may cause kitty to be more awake and alert), and the
weather (cats will be napping on rainy or snowy days). Or maybe kitty is
just bored.
If you want to encourage your
cat or kitten to take less naps you might want to buy some cat toys and
play with him or her more. Having a daily play session will encourage
your cat to be awake and get some healthy exercise.
