Ancient Cats
to Modern Day Cats
by
KittyKondo.com
About 35 million years ago an ancient species of
cat known as "Proailurus" walked the earth. Proailurus is the cat
from which all present-day cats trace their lineage. It had all
the same traits that make cats superb predators: stabbing teeth,
powerful jaws, agile and flexible bodies and excellent binocular
vision.
Today, we divide cats into three categories today. Big Cats which include
lions, tigers, jaguars and leopards. Medium-size cats are the wild
mountain cats like the lynx and pumas that are able to hunt and
kill large prey 7 times their size. And ofcourse, the small cats
who weigh in under 40 lbs that can hunt the smaller prey, like rodents.
