You may be thinking about de-clawing your cat
but think again! De-is a cruel, painful surgery that you must
never put your cat through. When a cat goes has his/her claws removed this is
not a manicure but a painful surgery. De-clawing is not like removing
a toe-nail: the vet must actually remove the last bone off your
cat's claw. In effect, this is actually an amputation of one of
your cat's toes.
De-clawing comes with a painful recovery period
and catlovers know that cats have keen senses, much more so to pain.
They may hide it better because being an animal, cats have an instinctive
nature to hide any form of weakness, no matter how painful.
The practice of de-clawing is mainly practiced in
the U.S. In other countries this practice is considered inhumane
and illegal.
Please keep in mind that there are other ways to
curb the affects of cat scratching. There are many quality sisal
scratching posts that can be purchased: sisal is a form of catnip
and actually trains your cat to love scratching it rather than any
other furniture.
