The Egyptian
Mau Cat is widely believed to have originated from Cairo and got its beginnings in the U.S. through three cats
imported in 1956 from Egypt by an exiled Russian Princess.
The Egyptian Mau Cat has
graceful, muscular body that grows to medium length.
This cat has slender legs, its hind legs being longer than its
forelegs. The Mau comes in silver, bronze, smoke or black. Silver
and bronze types have a dense coat while smoke-colored types
have fine, silky coats.
The personality of the
Egyptian Mau cat can be described as fiercely devoted and loyal.
This is a cat that doesn't easily transfer and adapt to new
owners. Intelligent and thought to have a good memory,
the Egyptian Mau speaks in a soft, melodious voice. When happy
the Egyptian Mau will wiggle its tail.
