History of the Norwegian Forest Cat
The Norwegian Forest
Cat is a beautiful, wild-looking cat and comes from an ancient,
natural breed that once lived in the woods
of Norway. In its history with man the Norwegian Forest
Cat proved its superior hunting ability and often praised by
Norwegian farmers. This cat breed almost became extinct during
World War II and survives to this day due to a preservation
effort organized by a former President of the Norwegian Cat
Association.
This
cat is medium-sized in length but has a large body frame with
solid muscles and bone structure. The chin of the Norwegian
Forest cat is firm, in line with its nose and gently rounded.
Its paws are large, round and densely tufted and its tail is
densely furred and remains that way throughout the year.
The Norwegian Forest Cat is a long-haired cat that comes in
many variety of types and colors, except for color-pointed.
Popular colors for this cat breed include brown or silver tabby:
these colors has helped the Norwegian Forest Cat blend into
its woodland surroundings.
