History of the Ocicat Cat
The Ocicat Cat
breed came about when cat breeders crossed a ruddy Abyssinian
cat with a seal-point siamese .
The result of the coupling was a large, ivory-colored cat with
bright golden spots and copper eyes. Later on, the American
Shorthair cat was added to broaden the Ocicat Cat Breed base.
The
Ocicat is generally a medium to large cat who retains an athletic
and well-muscled body. The coat of the Ocicat is
smooth and has the texture of satin. This cat is a tabby cat
and marked with the tabby "M" on its forehead. What distinguishes
this cat from other tabby cats are the rows of round spots that
run alongside its spine from the shoulders to the tail.
The spots on the Ocicat occur in an array of colors. Its coat
colors are predominantly white to ivory to bronze.
The Ocicat Cat Personality can be described
as affectionate and it becomes very attached to its adopted
family and isn't demanding. This cat can live well with
other cats or dogs in the household and is friendly with strangers.
The Ocicat is a sociable cat who doesn't like to be left alone
for long periods.
